Mitch
Blais of Champs Eastside Boxing Club in
Cornwall, On. defeats David Bellmare of
the Gladiator Boxing Club in Gatineau, Qc. in a action packed three
rounder by split decision. These two fighters fought well with good
exchanges on both sides. This fight could have gone either way.
Tony
Luis of Champs Eastside Boxing Club in Cornwall, On. defeats Steve Marsh
of Belleville, On. in a great action packed fight with both these fighters
exchanging blows. Steve got off to a fast start, while Tony slowly picked
up the pace.
Shea
Bertram of Triumph Boxing in Hastings, On. defeats Matt Ladd of the
Gale Kerwin Boxing Club in Ottawa, On. This turned out to be a bloody
fight. Matt who had early on in the week injured his nose sparring with
his brother, had the injury come back to haunt him. The fight was stopped
with 30 seconds remaining in the third round. Shea punished Matt with
good solid punches. With good exchanges from both sides, these guys
earned the crowds applause.
Melanie
Trottier of the Gale Kerwin Boxing Club (Ottawa, On.) defeats Lucia
Lucinesse of the Montreal Boxing Club (Montreal, Qc.). Melanie was the
aggressor for the first two rounds putting together good combination
punches. Lucia came back in the third round with good exchanges and
landing the better punches.
Danny Sylveter of Gladiator Boxing in Gatineau,
Qc. defeats Tom Curzon of Kingston Youth in Kingston, On. with good
exchanges on the part of both fighters. This fight could have gone either
way. Tom being the good sport that he is motions a congratulations to
Danny.
Rock
Bosquet of the Gale Kerwin Boxing Club in Ottawa, On. defeats Ben Mustafi
of Tri-Star Boxing in Montreal, Qc. Rock produced good jabs and was
clearly the aggressor to propel him to victory. Ben put up a good fight
but was looking for that one knock out punch, and seemed to have the
strength to do it only Rock would have no part of it.
Joe
Curzon of Kingston Youth Boxing (Kingston, On.) defeats Jean Sebastien
of Tri-Star Boxing (Montreal, Qc.). Jean spent most of his time chasing
Joe around the ring. Joe was mostly showboating, but at the same time
getting that extra punch in to stay ahead. This was not the prettiest
fight to watch. but what can I say I like Joe he is a polite young man
and very likable. If Joe ever decides to concentrate on boxing he has
a lot of talent and great potential.
Luc
Federer of the Triumph Boxing in (Hastings, On.) defeats Stephane Joanisse
of the Gale Kerwin Boxing Club (Ottawa, On.) in a good action fight
with good combinations from both these fighters. Stephane with the good
jabs and Luc with the more solid punches.
David
Ladd of the Gale Kerwin Boxing Club (Ottawa, On.) defeats Nicola Huard
of the Tri-Star Boxing (Montreal, Qc.) in a good action packed fight
with both fighters having good exchanges.
I
caught up with Steve Marsh shown here with his dad Leo Marsh after the
fight for a one on one interview. Steve will be 18 in October, looking
to turn pro, and will be fighting out of Niagara Falls, On. Fighting
since 1997 and 35 amateur fights later, Steve hopes to have his first
pro fight in Peterborough, On. at the Memorial Centre. I like Steve
and wish him the best on route to the pro's.
Left
to right: David Ladd, Ron Gervais who put the club show together, with
his two fighters, and Matt Ladd David's brother. David had a good night
with a win, but not so for Matt who made a great effort only to have
it stopped in the third round. I spoke to these two fighters briefly
and I hope to see more of them in the future.
Left
to right: My friends, Miranda and mother Diane Lafromboise. who teamed
up to photograph the fights that I was not able to due to working the
corner of Tony Luis and Mitch Blais' fight. Thank you!
