Belleville, ON. May 08th, 2004

Mitchell Blais of Champs Eastside Boxing in Cornwall, On. in the black defeats Mitchell Cleary of Triumph. Both fighters displayed good technique with lots of action, which earned them fight of the night honors.

Tony Luis of Champs Eastside Boxing in Cornwall, On. in the blue defeats Robbie Shewell of Uptown Boxing Club in Barrie, On. Tony got off to a slow start in the first round but picked it up in the later rounds. Robbie fought well and made Tony earn the win.

Tyler Cross of Belleville, On. in the red defeats Joey Bowman of Champs Eastside Boxing of Cornwall, On. This was a very technical fight, too technical. Tyler was the busier of the two fighters landing more with the few punches that were thrown. Joey had a slow start and could not adjust to Tyler's height and reach until the third round, by then it was too late.

Jaime Lee Quigley of Belleville in the white trunks in an Exhibition fight with Allyssa Cournyea also of Belleville. Jaime displayed good technique with good hooks off the ropes. Allyssa also displayed good technique. This was a good back and forth action fight.

Tony Fennel of Kingston Youth Boxing Club defeats Dwight Lekusky of The Boxing Factory. This was a very unusual fight as these two fighters were over 50 years old and went the 3 round distance to a judges decision. The red corner was the more aggressive and harder puncher, the blue corner the more technical boxer. These two fifty plus men put on a great show for the crowd, and had it not been for Blais and Cleary I would have given them fight of the night.

Tanya Robertson of Wellington in the red trunks in an Exhibition fight with Diana Raycroft also of Wellington. This was a good action fight with Tanya displaying good combinations and good technique. Both fighters put on a good show.

Isabelle Perrault in the blue out of the Beaver Boxing Club in Ottawa, On. defeats Becky Denney of Belleville, On. in a good action fight. Becky received a standing eight count but give her credit for coming back to have a good second round.

Shae Betrand in the red of Quinte Youth defeats Matt Whittaker of the Beaver Boxing Club of Ottawa, On. Shae was the more aggressive of the two , and Matt the more technical. This was a good fight with lots of action.

Doug Plummer of Belleville in the red defeats Patrick Cooney of Quinte Youth in a good action fight. These kids put on a good show for the crowd.

Kyle Neville of Uptown Boxing Club in Barrie, On. defeats Sam Hall of Belleville. Neville was the more aggressive of the two boxers. Hall came back to make it a good back and forth action fight.

Dr. Adrian Hobbart, who is one of my favorite people. I cannot say enough about this man. He is a true gentleman in every sense of the word. Dr. Hobbart is always willing to give of his free time to help the Amateur Boxing program. I am sure that I speak for everyone when I say, "It is people like Dr. Hobbart that make this program, and great sport, a success". THANK YOU DOC!

(From left to right) T-Mo Smith, Blain Buchner, and Max Irwin. I caught up with these three hungry guys before the fight. I asked Blain if he was fighting, he told me that they did not have a fight, and were hoping to pick one up at the event. That is why I call them (the three hungry guys). They are there, are willing to fight, and are ready to go. Now that is what makes champions.

I believe this gentleman's name is Mike Reid, please correct me if I am wrong. Mike did a great job as the nights announcer, and is also an amateur boxer who is taking some time out to heal. Great job! See you in the ring when you get back Mike.

Jaime Lee Quigley of Belleville, On. in the center ring asking the crowd some trivia questions, and awarding the winners with prizes donated by local merchants. Jaime also fought in an Exhibition bout that was the second fight of the night, as you can see in the first photo (top left).

(From left to right) Jorge Luis of Champs Eastside Boxing Club (Cornwall, On), (myself) Luis de Melo of Champsboxing.com, and last but not least our host for the evenings Club Show, Jack Ireland of Belleville. Here we are at Montana's. The show is over, everyone had a great time, now it is time to eat, watch the fights on HBO and then a bit of a drive home. Special thanks to Jack, for as usual putting on a successful fight card.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY
JOE SANDULO

Here we are at Montana's and what a surprise to find out that it is Joe Sandulo's birthday. I guess this is the way they celebrate birthday's at Montana's. Hey Joe! This is what we in the computer world call a priceless moment. Look who is on the far right having a great time. It is Joe's side kick Jill Perry of the Beaver Boxing Club in Ottawa. Happy birthday Joe from all of us, and may you have many more.
