Canada vs Poland -
Hull, Quebec
Dec. 13, 2003
Gabriel
Riffon in the (blue) corner loses to Adam Michniewicz of Poland. Adam
was landing his jabs and hooks as Gabriel was not using his jab and walking
in to Adam's punches. Gabriel still put on a good performance.
Eric
Mondou in the blue corner defeats Andrzej Chrzanowski of Poland in a
good dominating fight. Andrzej proved to be no match for the more experienced
and much stronger fighter in Eric. Andrzej was knocked down twice by
Eric and finally stopped in the second round.
Jose
Malaison loses to Karol Landowski of Poland in a good technical fight.
I am not taking anything away from Karol, but I thought that Jose did
enough to win this bout, but then again I am not the judge. It still
proved to be a good fight.
David
Lemieux in the left stops Kamil Stemplewski of Poland in the second
round. Kamil received 2 standing eight counts. Kamil was scoring points
by getting in and out up till the time he was stopped. David was too
strong for his opponent.
Marc
Dorion fighting out of the Beaver Boxing Club in Ottawa, Ontario defeats
David Arbique of the Gladiator Boxing Club in Gatineau, Qc. in a preliminary
bout. Marc seemed to be the more experienced fighter firing some good
hooks, and David was more of a banger. All in all it turned out to be
a good bout.
Francois
Robert Bernard defeats Andrzej Fafara
of Poland in a fast paced great technical fight. Francois came out of
the corner with good speed and technique on his side, while Andrzej
had a good jab and some quickness to his credit. From what I saw, this
was a great fight.
Lucas
Welmak (right in red shirt) had a slow start but quickly put some good
combos together to defeat Przemyslaw Szezepanek of Poland in a close
fight. Przemyslaw started quick and fought well. Poland was upset at
the decision.
Ryan
White in the blue corner defeats Lukasz Zambrzycki of Poland in an action
filled fight. Poland was upset at the decision. I talked with Ryan after
the fight and learned that he lives in Nova Scotia, which is my favorite
motorcycle touring vacation spot.
Daniel
Raymonds on the left stops Jakub Loboda of Poland in the third round.
Daniel fought a good fight and dominated his opponent. Jakub had his
good moments with some good exchanges, but not enough to beat a tough
Daniel.
Sebastien
Lalumiere loses to Marcin Pryczek of Poland. Sebastien had his hands
full or should I say his arms full trying to get out of the hug fest
provided by Marcin which was every round.
Piotr
Zaloga of Poland stops Andral Apollon on the right of team Canada. This
was a slugging match with some good moments. Both fighters fought hard
and provided good action.
Sylwester
Dawidczyk of Poland wins by walkover with Mikel Rondeau being a no show.

We
see Kenneth Piche (Directeur technique de Boxe-Québec) at ringside
posing for my camera as the venue prepares to get under way. I always
enjoy covering these events and send a special thanks to Kenneth Piche
and Russ Anber of (Boxe Quebec) for inviting me.

pro boxer Gaetan Hart who was at the event with one of his amateur boxers

Russ Anber (center) chats with
