Victor Lupo a welterweight fighting out of Toronto, On. defeats Tommy Poey of Virginia Beach, Va. Lupo recorded a TKO in the first round. A cut above the left eye of Poey kept him from coming out for the second round. Lupo went to work early using his jab, combinations, and hooks well. To Poey's credit for the limited time that he was on the offence fired some picture perfect hooks.

Luis de Melo with the beautiful Heather "The Tiger" Stevens out of Virginia Beach, Va. Heather battles it out with Emile Rudan of Toronto, On. in a four rounder. The fight was declared a draw. Rudan threw some hard punches, and one good hook coming out of the corner to start the round, but when I saw Heather take that hook that would have put anyone else down for the count, I knew she was going all the way. Heather was the busier of the two fighters trying to pin down Rudan.

Jason St. Louis Vs. Frank Lankonde in a thrilling four rounder. St. Louis came back in the last two rounds to end this fight in a draw. I don't know where he found the energy, but I could have sworn it was the first round the way St. Louis was fighting. This was definitely the fight of the night.

Billy "The Kid" Irwin of Niagra Falls, On. in an exebition fight with Jo Jo Dan a south paw out of Toronto, On. weighing in 10 lbs heavier than Billy who is currently the Canadian Lightweight Champion. Billy's professional record is 41-5 with 29 Ko's.

Hector Alejandro stops Leonardo Rojas in the first round. Rojas complained of a sore arm in the corner before the start of the second round and was not able to continue. Rojas was doing well up to that point. Give Hector credit as he came to fight and fight he did.

Jason St. Louis a Cornwall native now living in Red Deer Alta. and his corner man Jorge Luis of Champs Eastside Boxing in Cornwall, On.

Here I am again right in the middle. I seem to always get myself in trouble, and out numbered.

From right to left: Denis Benoit (President of RingWay Promotions), Jason St. Louis, Rod Revette, Pat Lankonde, and mystery man.

Here I get a close-up photo of Jorge Luis (President of Champs Eastside Boxing) in Cornwall, Ontario working the corner of Leonardo Rojas.

Billy (the kid) Irwin in a photo with myself (Luis de Melo). I like Billy he's a pretty good guy. I met Billy for the first time in Cornwall a couple of years ago when he fought Super Mario. Billy always finds time to chat with the press and take time out for a photo here and there.

Special thanks to the Cornwall Police Association for supporting Champs Eastside Boxing's amateur program. Here representing the Police Association are from left to right: Simon Lauzon, Pat Paquette, Robin McIntosh, and my friend Donny Petryna.
