Bermane (Montreal, QC) was clearly the stronger opponent. Bermane would dispatch Brad (Wichita, KS) to the canvas twice in the first round. It would be Brad's first loss. Brad's corner called the fight at 2:35 of the first round after seeing their fighter go down twice from a solid jab.
Tony Luis (Cornwall, ON.) in the brown trunks in his second fight since turning pro. Tony Luis (2-0) turned his hand speed loose on an opponent who weighed 138lbs in the weigh-in, but showed up at least 20 lbs heavier. Tony would dominate Jean in all four rounds by using combinations, and getting in and out quickly to keep Jean from using his weight advantage, and experience as a boxer with 9 fights under his belt. Tony would sail to an easy victory by a score of 40-36 on all three scorecards.
David Lemieux (Montreal, QC) purple trunks came out firing on all cylinders on route to a TKO victory over Gonzalez (Mexico City, Mexico). David fought well as usual and would send Gonzalez to the canvas three times before earning his TKO victory at 1:53 in the 2nd round. This makes 9 KO's in 9 fights.
WBA INTER-CONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP
Alex Bunema scores a TKO at 3:00 of the 6th round. Bunema fought steady using his left hand effectively, while working off some good hooks and uppercuts. There were some good exchanges between these two fighters with Bunema getting the better.
Besmi starts the fight early by visiting the canvas thanks to Perez of Mexico. Besmi to his credit would recover nicely and score a TKO in the 5th round at 1:29. Besmi would land solid hooks and and become more effective as he used his jab, and worked the body to control Perez. The Mexican fighter would soon start to run out of gas. With Perez brandishing a cut eye, his corner decided it was time to end the fight. WBA LIGHT-MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
Joachim Alcine's entry to the ring was fit for a King. This night though, Joachim would not be crowned. The fight started out with these two fighters feeling each other and testing the waters. I thought it was going to be a long night as with each passing round nothing seemed to happen. Alcine was working effectively off his jab, but at times Joachim would come out swinging with some good hooks, and then would seem to be trying to put Santos away early with wide desperate hooks that would put Alcine off balance. Then it happened, the unthinkable. The crowd around me went silent as though someone had turned off the sound. Santos had delivered a solid left hand to Alcine and he would lay there for the full 10 count at 2:10 of the 6th round. Santos came to Montreal to win, and win he did!

I met Vinnie Curto for the first time at the nights event. If I had to name all of Vinnie's accomplishments I would probably be here all day trying. You can read for yourself at the link below. You will see why this man is respected and well known by the boxing world and the people who still talk about him. We all went out to eat after the show. Vinnie and Russ Anber were the life of the party. The stories they told of years gone by, and the memories of the many battles fought. By the nights end, which was late, I felt like I had known Vinnie all my life. He makes that much of an impression. Vinnie originally from Boston, Massachusetts makes his home in California and runs KO-TO Promotions (The Ultimate Matchmaker). I can only say that the next time the legendary Vinnie Curto comes to town, I'll be there to listen to his stories and enjoy the great sense of humor that he possesses.
