It was a proud moment for Jorge Luis and all of the friends and family members that attended the evenings ceremony and dinner. It was finally Jorge's turn to accept his place as part of Cornwall's Boxing history. As Jorge approached the platform he accepted his award and searched deep for the words that would flow through his humble soul. As I watched with my camera in hand. I saw a man that has given so much and asked for so little. The words would start to flow as he would thank the Cornwall Sports Hall of Fame, his friends for their support, Hall of Famer Vern Theoret who still comes out and donates his time as a judging official. A special thanks to Al MacGillis who donated his time as a boxing coach when Jorge was a teenager, as Jorge continues to do this day, that has led him to this moment in time.
Jorge's voice would break at times when thanking his father (recently passed away), who was not there to witness this great moment, not knowing that this was due to his great support and love for his son. Jorge you have made your father proud! Jorge would then thank his mom for her love and support as she looked on, as a proud mother would. Last but not least Jorge would thank his wife Maria and his children for their support, as their has been many a night traveling with his young boxers.
All of us, friends, and family had a memorable evening, being part of this historical day as will be evident in the photos below.
